Creator Program - how it works

Understanding Lurkit's Creator Program

The aim of marketing and community management in the gaming ecosystem is to attract and retain users for a game or product. Often, achieving longevity and maintaining results over time is a daunting task for marketers in the industry. With the rise of influencer marketing as the most powerful marketing channel in gaming, it has become more important than ever to find a way to attract and manage creators to work with over time.

Lurkit introduces a new feature, the Creator Program, offering streamlined workflows, cost-effectiveness, and enhanced community engagement for working with content creators at massive scale.

So, how does a Creator Program work? In this article, we will go over the different parts of the Creator Program feature and how to set them up to run a successful program:

  1. Setting up your Creator Program
  2. Custom Landing Page - Designing your Creator Program
  3. Creator Management - Managing members
  4. Announcements - Keeping members up-to-date
  5. Missions & Rewards - Engaging and retaining creators
  6. Insights - Monitoring activity

1. Setting up the Creator Program

The basics of setting up your Creator Program involve outlining any necessary requirements and designing your program with added perks.

  • In your Lurkit account, navigate to Creator Program > Creator Program > Edit

Basics:

  • Start off by setting up the basics, such as your Creator Program name, the list image as well as linking the games related to the program
  • Add your code of conduct. Creators will be required to read through and agree to each page that you add
  • To add a page, simply press the Add Page-button at the bottom of the page

Requirements:

  • Set up requirements to determine which creators qualify for applying to your program. Requirements are divided into:
    • Location & languages. This will determine which demographics will be allowed to apply
    • Social metrics. Select content performance metrics such as viewership or followers and let Lurkit use data to validate incoming requests
  • Add your application form. Creators will be required to answer questions that you set up. All of the info is presented to you when you view members in your program.
    • Tip: make use of the different types of questions to gather all the information you need and make the process smooth for applicants
  • Edit page access. Decide if you want your program to be:
    • Discoverable - lists the creator program on Lurkit, allowing active creators to view and apply to the creator program.
    • Hidden - the program will only be visible to invited creators and to verified Lurkit creators with direct access to the creator program URL

Perks:

  • Manage your campaign access and decide which of your other activations on Lurkit that creators are allowed to partake in automatically by allowlisting them. Select if you want to allow access to:
    • All campaigns
    • All key campaigns
    • All Quests
    • Custom selection
  • Create and list custom perks to creators. This is a great place to explain what creators might benefit from if they join the program, and commonly includes perks like special Discord ranks, content re-shares, in-game currency, merch and more

2. Custom Landing Page - Designing Your Creator Program

You have the option to customize your page and configure a custom URL. Once completed, your Creator Program is ready to be shared.

Landing page design:

  • Navigate to Creator Program Landing Page Edit
  • Design and set up your page to match your branding. You can edit and preview changes live
  • Add cards to enter any information, images, campaign links and more
  • You can change and tweak global design in the top left corner
  • To activate your Creator Program, add the Creator Program-card to add the ability for creators to apply

Custom domain setup:

  • Navigate to Creator Program Landing Page > click the more options menu to the right of the Edit-button > Page settings
    • You need to have access to your DNS records to change these settings. Content can be hosted on a subdomain (e.g. 'creator.company.com') or directly on a root domain (e.g. 'company.com')
  • Update your DNS Records. Copy the required data sets below and paste them into the appropriate record fields at your domain provider's site. Note that it takes a little time for your name servers to update

3. Creator Management - Managing Members

Members' applications can be reviewed based on data, after which you can accept or reject the applications. You can also segment members into creator lists.

  • Navigate to Creator Program Creator Management
  • In creator management, you can handle members of your program and missions
  • For your Creator Program, you will see three tabs:
    • Applicants - pending applicants to your program
    • Accepted - members currently enrolled in your program
    • Rejected - rejected applications

4. Announcements - Keeping Members Up-To-Date

Sharing news via the announcements feature, giving out rewards, and allowing list members to any activation on Lurkit are the main tools to keep your members informed.

5. Missions & Rewards - Engaging and Retaining Creators

The next step is to set up the basics of the mission and add custom performance goals. These actions will provide added rewards of your choice for creators.

6. Insights - Monitoring Activity

Lastly, Lurkit's powerful insights tools lets you monitor any activity for your games when it comes to content performance.

As with any feature, it is essential to familiarize yourself with its settings and functions, and the Creator Program is no different. Understanding and implementing the different aspects of this program can go a long way in ensuring the longevity of your game or product!
